Pickup from your hotel at 08.00 am and we begin explore this charming city with a visit the terracotta red National Museum which offers a charming setting for a comprehensive collection of Khmer artifacts. After this you will visit the nearby Royal Palace, on the banks of the Mekong River. Inside the Palace walls you will be treated to the Throne Hall, the Chan Chaya Pavilion and the King’s residential quarters. You will then move on to the neighboring Silver Pagoda, so named as it is claimed its floor is made up of over 4,000 silver tiles. Then, continue to Wat Phnom, set on top of a 27m-high tree-covered knoll, Wat Phnom is on the only ‘hill’ in town.
After lunch, we drive to Tuol Sleng Museum, ironically a former school located in a quiet Phnom Penh suburb, which was an infamous Khmer Rouge prison / torture center. You will be driven 15km out of the city to visit the “Killing Fields”, where prisoners were forcibly marched and then executed; it is now a memorial site located in a beautiful tranquil setting. We return to the hotel to freshen up before your guide take you for a stroll on Sisowath Quay, which runs along the west bank of Tonle Sap River and filled with vendors, locals, tourists, and expats, and lined with hotels, restaurants, bars cafes and shops. Your slice of the city is now complete and you can stay longer on your own to explore more and reward yourself with a drink and dine around this area.
